MEDAN, North Sumatra: The military police on Tuesday named 26 soldiers as suspects in Sunday’s attack on the Labuhan Batu Police station and a nearby police post.
The suspects, all low-ranking soldiers posted at the Kala Sakti Battalion 126, are still undergoing intensive questioning, according to Bukit Barisan Military Command spokesman Col. Asren Nasution.
Dozens of soldiers vandalized the police post and stations, triggered by news that two of their colleagues were arrested by police allegedly for gambling. Along with the military personnel, four civilians were reportedly arrested.
“If any high-ranked officer is involved, he surely will not get away with it,” Arsen said. — JP
