Public order officers raid resident over terror jitter

A resident of Maracang village in the West Java town of Purwakarta was surprised on Wednesday by the arrival of dozens of public order and subdistrict administration officers for a search in connection with the recent crackdown on terrorist suspects in South Tangerang.

Nani Mustikawati told Elshinta radio the government employees were curious about her motorcycle which carried a registration number similar to a motorbike belonging to two terror suspects who were shot dead in a raid in Pamulang, South Tangerang on Tuesday.

Dozens of curious neighbors packed her house when the officers examined vehicle ownership documents of her Honda Vario motorcycle.

The terrorist suspects were riding a Suzuki Thunder when counterterrorism squad members raided them.

Upset, Nani protested the public order officers’ move, saying only the police who were authorized to examine her vehicle ownership documents.
