The government says the automotive industry in the first two months of this year has shown a good recovery and that it expects the industry's production to return to its peak of 2008.
"The situation [in the past two months] was like in 2008, when it was at its peak. We expect by the end of this year production can reach that of 2008," director general of the Transportation Equipment and Telematics Industry Budi Darmadi said Thursday.
Budi said the character of the automotive industry is usually to recover within two years following a crisis.
"But this year has been faster. We have recovered within one year," he said.
