House of Representatives Speaker Marzuki Alie from the Democratic Party says he is ready to talk with anyone doubting his leadership capability.
"I want to avoid any misunderstanding. Any time people want to meet me, I will schedule them in," he told reporters via a text message on Thursday.
Earlier, a coalition of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) had submitted an official request demanding the demotion of Marzuki following recent controversies surrounding his methods in leading House plenary sessions.
The latest controversy was when the session on the Bank Century bailout case ended in chaos as legislators got entangled in a scuffle due to a difference of opinion among them.
Marzuki was also deemed by the NGOs as not being neutral in conducting meetings.
