At least four people are feared to be trapped under the rubble of a collapsed sandal maker on Jl. Kamal Raya in West Jakarta following a major fire that was contained only on Friday.
“We have received reports from four families who claimed to have lost their loved ones,” Kalideres police station detective First Insp. Heru SY told Antara.
The missing people are identified as Rusli, 70, Rengat, 60, Andri, 29, and Liana, 24, all are employees of the company.
Police said evacuation of the four victims would be conducted on Saturday for safety reasons.
The cause of the fire has remained unknown. No less than 25 fire engines were deployed to put out the fire, which lasted over 24 hours.
Police said chemical substances that scattered around the company had made it difficult for the fire fighters to extinguish the flame.
