Letters: Bali needs better movies

The awful old auditoriums in an even more disgusting business complex on Jl. Imam Bonjol in Denpasar are an utter disgrace and an insult to the paying public!
The measly two screens of the Bali Galleria at Simpang Siur in Kuta are quite passable.
However, I can not help but wonder, quite often aloud, why there are only two screens when there are so many excellent films from Hollywood, Europe and other important film studios throughout the world available!
This very important heavily populated and quite popular tourist destination in Southern Bali certainly deserves a complex of at least seven screens.
The currently open unused space that once served as a parking area for motorcycles, right next to the building housing "the two measly screens" would be perfect for a brand new, super-modern two-story elegant Bali-like edifice for the movie-going public.
With organized publicity comparable to cinemas in Amsterdam, Munich, Vienna and other world-class cities, it would not be difficult to attract a steady clientele for a program of good, sophisticated, and not-so-sophisticated mainstream movies and Art-house silver-screen productions from around the world!
The French, Italian, German, British, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese studios are just a few that also offer excellent fare, and screening these films on a regular basis on the seven screens of the Bali Galleria could only be a big plus in developing an enthusiastic following.
All this, of course, is provided that the cost of admission remains reasonable.
