Text your say: Threats of terrorism

Terrorism will have no place in Indonesia if the government can solve its poverty and education problems. And the government also needs to send a clear message to the Indonesian youth that: “Terrorists are losers now.”

First of all we should congratulate the Indonesian police in their
efforts to clean up Indonesia from terrorists. Their ultimate success in killing Dulmatin, a dangerous individual, deserves respect.
Former State Intelligence Agency’s chief Hendro Priyono, however,
emphasized that the government should stop inflammatory sermons
by irresponsible clerics.
These sermons can be heard everywhere all around us and are
being disregarded by the current government. Even during traditional weddings in the countryside, inflammatory sermons by fanatic clerics are heard enticing unemployed young men. These clerics are planting
seeds of hatred against citizens of different faiths and everything that is western.
We should not forget that terrorism and fundamentalism go hand in hand. We call on the government to take his statements seriously and to act upon it. He is one of the few experienced experts on anti-terrorism that Indonesia has.
It is the duty of the government to keep its citizens safe by urging heads of neighborhood units to step up their monitoring system and to keep track of suspicious actions by individuals who fall under their responsibility.
The government should train heads of neighborhood units and communities to increase their responsibilities by registering and monitoring citizens, questioning suspicious individuals and obtain data of newcomers in their neighborhood.
The police cannot be everywhere and we have to admit that the anti-terrorist squad is overworked.

Everyone associated with terrorists could be terrorists and therefore, they should be interrogated. All terrorists found guilty should be executed.

Terrorism is a form of crime that can ruin Indonesia. As we can see that any terror action has sparked calamity — losing lives and property of innocent people.
