Preparations for the signing of a Comprehensive Partnership Agreement (CPA) between the United States and Indonesia are unaffected by President Barack Obama's delayed arrival here, an official says.
"The CPA draft which is scheduled to be signed during President Obama's visit to Indonesia is nearing its finalization," Indonesian foreign ministry spokesman Teukeu Faizasyah was quoted by Antara on Saturday.
The CPA draft, which covers a wide range of issues such as economy, science and technology, education, social issues, politics and military cooperation, is expected to be completed when the US president arrived in Jakarta, Faizasyah added.
US President's press secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama would delay his trip to Australia and Indonesia by three days to work on domestic health care reform. The tour was originally scheduled to start on March 18.
Faizasyah said Obama would arrive in Jakarta some time in the third or fourth week of March. The Indonesian trip is deemed as sentimental as Obama spent four years of his childhood in Jakarta a few decades ago.
Obama is also scheduled to visit Bali during his homecoming trip to Indonesia.
Gibbs earlier said Obama’s Indonesia tour was an "extremely important trip" involving "important partner".
