Bekasi want local firm to manage natural gas

BEKASI: The Bekasi administration is requesting that state-owned PT Pertamina allow regency-owned PT Bina Bangun Wibawa Mukti to manage most of the natural gas found in 11 districts in Bekasi regency, West Java.

“It aims to increase the local original income,” Deputy Regency Darip Mulyana said Sunday.

He said, out of 23 districts in the regency, 11 contained 500
cubic feet of natural gas that could be turned into liquid petroleum gas (LPG) for household
cooking needs.

He was quoted by tempointeraktif.com as saying that Pertamina had drilled 15 natural gas wells from 35 planned wells in the 11 districts.

The drilling, he said, would not require a relocation for around a million people who lived in the area.
Currently, Bina Bangun Wibawa Mukti produced 110 tons of LPG a day from 20 cubic feet of natural gas.
Darip said the production volume has a 55 percent of market share in Jakarta and its greater area. — JP
