JAKARTA: Three former lawmakers from the Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle (PDI-P) are scheduled to testify before the Corruption Court
today on a graft case involving the 2004 election of a Bank Indonesia
senior deputy governor.
Amir Karyatin, a lawyer for the defendant, Dudhie Makmun Murod,
confirmed today’s trial would hear testimonies from Dudhie’s then
fellow PDI-P lawmakers, Williem M. Tutuarima, Engelina A. Pattiasina
and Sukardjo Hardjosoewirjo.
Aside from the three party members, the court will also summon two of
Engelina’s employees from that time, T. Mona Manik and Turyanto.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has charged Dudhie under
the 2001 anticorruption law after allegedly receiving Rp 500 million
(US$54,500) in bribes to vote for Miranda Swaray Goeltom as the central
bank’s senior deputy governor. — JP
