JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has threatened to
lower its performance if the House of Representatives cuts its budget.
“What can we do? If we have our budget cut by the House, we will have
to slow down even though the public has high expectations for us,” said
KPK deputy chief M. Yasin. “Let the public be the judge.”
Yasin added the KPK would still work as hard as possible with the available budget.”
He was responding to a threat made by a number of House members in
protest against what they deemed “sluggish action” by the KPK in
following up their recommendations on the Bank Century bailout. — JP
