Megawati on political safari in eastern Indonesia

JAKARTA: Chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle
(PDI-P) Megawati Soekarnoputri, plans to attend PDI-P regional
conferences in Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Papua and Maluku, says a party
official.
Megawati departed from Jakarta for Pontianak in West Kalimantan on Saturday.
During the trip Megawati will also visit Palangkaraya, Kutai, Makassar,
Ambon, Manado and Jayapura, said PDI-P spokesman Daryatmo. He added
that Megawati planned to monitor the election of the party’s regional
office chairmen.
“It is important the party is strong for the 2014 general election,” he said.
The PDI-P will hold its national congress next month. — JP
