JAKARTA: A team formed by officials of the city-owned market operator
PD Pasar Jaya and kiosk owners recommended two locations for sellers
whose kiosks were razed by fire last week.
Head of the Blok 6 of Senen Market Bersimen Tinambunan said the first
location was in front of the burned kiosk on the roadside of Jl. Senen
Raya and the second was at the back of the market or on Jl. Stasiun
Senen.
He said the recommendation was conveyed to the Central Jakarta Mayor Sylviana Murni
for approval.
“If it is approved, the sellers can start their business again in one or two days,” he said.
Meanwhile, manager of Area 02 at Senen market Ivo Edvin Aryanto said
his office was still waiting for the investigation result from the
National Police on the cause of the fire and a study from the
University of Indonesia that would decide whether the burned market’s
basic foundation was strong enough to be used again.
“If the building is still proper and not dangerous, it’s possible that the sellers will be located in that building again.” — JP
