The National Police have denied that the current wanted terrorists were once volunteers at the Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C), a non government organization in the 2004 post-tsunami recovery program in Aceh.

"It [the rumor] is not true," National Police spokesman Edward Aritonang said Monday as quoted by Tempointeraktif.

Edward said police were still tracing the suspected terrorists whereabout.

However, Jose Rizal from MER-C admitted that several suspected terrorists who escaped the recent police raid in Aceh were once volunteers at MER-C.
