JAKARTA: Jakarta Police officers on Tuesday arrested dozens of supporters of Jakarta soccer club Persija afternoon for carrying sharp weapons.
They are being held for questioning, news portal kompas.com reported. The supporters were from the capital and satellite cities such as Depok and Bekasi.
They were en route to a match between Persija and Persipura at the Senayan stadium in Central Jakarta.
Mikael, one of the supporters, said he was carrying a small Madurese sickle-shaped dagger to protect himself since previously, one of his friends had been attacked by fellow supporters. — JP
