Court dismisses civil charge against Siloam

JAKARTA: Author Alfonsus Budi Susanto’s legal team is planning to report the judges of North Jakarta District Court, who presided his civil charge against Siloam hospital, to the Judicial Commission, following their decision to dismiss the plaintiff’s charge last week.  

One of the lawyers, Iskandar Sohdji, said there were indications that decisions made by the judges’ favored the hospital.

“The judges made it difficult for the plaintiff to call witnesses and he was not allowed to deliver his final conclusion during the trial,” he said on Wednesday.

The team is considering appealing the verdict while building a criminal case against the hospital.
Susanto suffered permanent damage to his feet after undergoing an acrylic cement injection to his spinal column at the hospital.

He filed the malpractice case against the hospital last year after the Medical Disciplinary Honorary Assembly refused to take any action. — JP
