Developer accused of causing floods

TANGERANG: Hundreds of residents living at Kavling Inayungan 105,
Pondok Aren district, South Tangerang rallied on Wednesday, demanding
the developer of Cluster Grisia Residence near Graha Bintaro to stop
the ongoing housing construction project.
“Flood inundated the houses of some 500 families living near the
project site. This never happened before the project began,” said
Taufik, one of the protesters.
He said the flood that had recently subsided was caused by the blockage
of an underground waterway that passes under the residential area.
“The underground waterway could not accommodate the excess water after
heavy rain causing floods here,” he said, adding that the ongoing
construction should be halted until the developer made improved
drainage in the area.
The developer’s staff refused to comment on the issue. — JP
