The Customs and Excise Office at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang has arrested an Iranian man for allegedly attempting to smuggle crystal methamphetamine into the country inside a chessboard.
Gatot Sugeng Wibowo, head of prosecutions at the office, told tempointeraktif.com the suspect, identified as AKS, 46, was arrested late Tuesday night after he arrived on an Emirates Airline flight from Dubai.
The suspect had hidden a total of 1,025 grams of crystal methamphetamine, worth around Rp 2 billion (US$220,000), in seven packages inside a chessboard.
The arrest was the latest in a series of arrests of Iranians for alleged drug smuggling over the past few months.
