Nyepi runs smoothly, services back to normal

DENPASAR: The celebration of Nyepi, the Hindu Day of Silence, ran peacefully in the
Bali capital. All public services and facilities returned to normal Thursday.
Denpasar municipality spokesman, I Made Erwin Suryadarma, said Thursday that all rituals performed during Nyepi were carried out in a secure situation, with no reports of disturbances.
“This peaceful celebration is proof that Denpasar residents have developed a sense of tole-rance, regardless of their various social, cultural and religious backgrounds.” — JP
