JAKARTA: North Jakarta Police announced Friday they had arrested two suspects in Palembang, South Sumatera, for allegedly distributing Ecstasy pills that they received from a Jakarta-based supplier.

Along with the suspects, the police also confiscated 8,550 Ecstasy pills with a street value of Rp 900 million (US$99,000).

"The syndicate smuggled the Ecstasy pills to Palembang by placing them inside vacuum cleaners and shipping them via courier service," North Jakarta Police narcotics head Comr. Suparmo said.

Suparmo said the police were currently trying to locate the suspect who allegedly sent the Ecstasy to Palembang.

"We checked the address of the package's sender, but it turned out to be fake," he said. - JP
