There's an event splashed all over KL event websites called Cartoomics 2010 that's taking place from March 26 to 28 * that's three days from Friday to Sunday * supposedly in an area called Fiera Milano City in KL.
Even so, Cartoomics is a giant annual event that's usually staged in Italy. The extravaganza will include an exhibition of legendary to progressive comics spanning decades, covering in-depth evaluations on how the most recent animation works were made, unveiling one of the biggest collections of graphic novels, rare comic books by Japan-, America- and Europe-based authors and bringing experts/animators from all over to the show for direct introductions, tutorials, meet-and-greet sessions, autograph signing and everything in between. It's simply heaven for self-proclaimed geeks.
The problem is, there's no news whatsoever about details of the event. One website that is meant to have details mentions that the city is actually in Italy, instead of Kuala Lumpur or even Malaysia. Worse yet, the Italian website of Cartoomics does mention that Cartoomics 2010 is running in Fiera Milano City from March 26 to 28 in Italy!!
Well, two things to say is that one, more than 20 KL event websites mention the event in KL, which is rather bizarre if it's incorrect. And two, it's Cartoomics 2010! If they actually mistyped the event location, because even a telephone number to call for information is not available, God cast lightning * or hordes of angry geeks * onto these people!
But enough said, let's move onto something certain, though personally none of it will meet the sheer quality of Cartoomics - listen to the whiny little sad geek.
Things that you can still catch, after your mourning session for Cartoomics is over or in case you want to transfer your anger by screaming as loud as you can, is Diplomats of Drum's concert on March 27 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Homegrown Space Wisma Bentley, Damansara-Klang 10.
Diplomats of Drum is a rambunctious band of 10 brothers. Though some of you may have never heard of them, they claim to have a solid fan base, hence feel the necessity to hold a free gig for them. Named Rhythm Reverberation Ramshackle, the set for the gig, they say, has been tailored to meet their fan's mail requests, rocking both old and new tunes at maximum volume for an hour. Feel like checking them out?
You should, because the next event is specifically provided for those looking to get a cheap ticket to Italy and join the unimaginable Cartoomics - listen to this desperate ugly-looking geek.
