Nearly 100 photos by Russian and Indonesian photographers will be displayed at an exhibition titled "Unity in Diversity" to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between these two nations.

Around 50 photos in the exhibition have been taken from archives of the Russian Cultural Center, featuring images from between 1941 and 1970, while another 50 of the photos are works of students from the Kelaspagi photography workshop headed by Anton Ismael, a renowned fashion photographer.

The exhibition will run from March 22 through March 27, at the Russian Center for Science and Culture on Jl. Diponegoro 12 in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Movies

Bentara Budaya Jakarta, known as the last bastion for local culture, got so carried away with the glamour and glitz of the recent Academy Awards ceremony that it has announced a program to celebrate Oscar-winning movies.

This time Bentara Budaya curators choose Oscar-winning musicals including The Sound of Music, An American in Paris, West Side Story, Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady and Cabaret.

Between March 22 and March 24, three films will be screened daily from 2:30 p.m onwards at the Bentara Budaya gallery on Jl.Palmerah Selatan 17, Jakarta. For show times and tickets call (021) 548 3008 or 549 0666 ext. 7910.

The first group will rock the city on March 23 while the latter will perform on March 30. Both will hold gigs at the Tennis Indoor stadium in Senayan starting at 8 p.m. For more ticket information, contact: Java Musikindo on (021) 579 88623 or log on to www.javamusikindo.com.
