Letter: Listen to travelers’ voice

A- A A+

It is tedious to continuously describe Bali’s tourist infrastructure as “world class.” Those people need to travel around more. Sure, the 5-star rate hotels are world class but as soon as you step onto the street outside it is clearly another story.

This is not the end of the world as the reason most people travel here is because of its traditional charm.
We need to listen to the opinions of visitors who repeat the same issues time and again:

Go outside of Denpasar (Nusa Dua to Sanur and Kerobokan) and it is absolutely beautiful. Stay inside the triangle and, sorry to be realistic guys, but it is a dump.

There is trash, street dogs, grimy repair shops every 20 meters, graffiti, badly kept shop fronts and trash burnt in the street. The quality of roads, specifically the gangs, is also unacceptable for visitors.

Beaches are awful unless you are lucky enough to live on the Southern coast. Beaches are great for surfing but the trash that piles up on these beaches and dumped in the surrounding areas is not picture postcard stuff. Buy a tractor with a trash plough on the back (as in Spain). Use morning and night for cheap effective results.

Get a “world class” expert to redesign the chaotic traffic intersection. The police do nothing to help the situation by casually deciding to direct traffic when they think it is too busy. This always creates more traffic.

Building the Sunset Road extension would also be a massive help for the Seminyak/Kerobokan end. One last point, a shopping mall is not infrastructure.
