Military, police probe explosives carrier

JAKARTA: The Customs and Excise has teamed up with the Police and
Indonesian Military (TNI) to continue investigation into a ship caught
with 60 tons of explosives at South China Sea last Wednesday.
Police and TNI investigators have arrived to investigate, Customs and
Excise spokeswoman Evi Suhartantyo said as quoted by detik.com.
Evi said the office focuses on the illegal documents while the police
and military on the possible link between the cargo and terrorism
activity. She added the authorities had so far not found indications
terrorism was involved.
The cargo ship, Pratama Jaya and bound for Ambon in Maluku or Kendari
in Southeast Sulawesi, was impounded with 600 kilograms of ammonium
nitrate.
Fourteen crew members have been detained for questioning. — JP
