JAKARTA: The Customs and Excise has teamed up with the Police and Indonesian Military (TNI) to continue investigation into a ship caught with 60 tons of explosives at South China Sea last Wednesday.

Police and TNI investigators have arrived to investigate, Customs and Excise spokeswoman Evi Suhartantyo said as quoted by detik.com.

Evi said the office focuses on the illegal documents while the police and military on the possible link between the cargo and terrorism activity. She added the authorities had so far not found indications terrorism was involved.

The cargo ship, Pratama Jaya and bound for Ambon in Maluku or Kendari in Southeast Sulawesi, was impounded with 600 kilograms of ammonium nitrate.

Fourteen crew members have been detained for questioning. — JP
