Bantar Gebang landfill in Bekasi, West Java, will operate four waste processing facilities following the arrival of two new machines in April, an official said.
“In May, we hope to produce 4 megawatts of electricity during the launch of the plant,” head of the city's Sanitary Agency Eko Bharuna said Friday.
He said currently the landfill operator was trying to produce stable methane gas during the rainy season by creating ditches to flow the water.
The newly built waste management facility is expected to produce 26 megawatts of electricity in 2012.
