JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned Bank Indonesia (BI) deputy governor Budi Rochadi on Thursday in its investigation into possible corruption in the controversial Bank Century bailout.
"The KPK is currently questioning a number of BI deputy governors in its investigation," antigraft body spokesman Johan Budi said as quoted by Antara state news agency.
Johan said the result of questioning Budi was expected to complement data the KPK had gathered from a number of state institutions, including the House of Representatives, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
Earlier this year, the House voted against the government's decision to save the ailing bank.
The antigraft body is focusing its investigations on graft that allegedly occurred in Century's handling of the BI's Rp 689 billion (US$75.1 million) liquidity assistance, the Rp 6.76 trillion bailout, and the subsequent channeling of funds. - JP
