Police name guru Anand as suspect

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police have named spiritual guru Anand Krishna as a suspect in a case of sexual harassment leveled against him by former acolytes.

"We'll question *Anand* as a suspect tomorrow," the city police's domestic violence unit head, Comr. Murnila, said Monday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Earlier this month, Anand completed a nine-hour questioning session with investigators from the unit, insisting he was innocent.

Anand is a well-known spiritualist who runs schools in Jakarta and Bali.

The case began when a former student at one of his meditation classes, Tara Pradipta Laksmi, 19, pressed charges of sexual harassment against him last month.

Tara claimed to have been hypnotized by Anand and touched against her will. - JP
