Swedish tourist falls to his death on Mt. Batur

A Swedish national, identified as Daniel Fetersen, died on Wednesday after he fell into the crater of Mt. Batur as he was climbing the volcano in the Kintamani resort area, located 70 kilometers northwest of the Bali capital of Denpasar.
Bangli Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Dwi Suseno said the 25-year-old tourist died instantly in the accident which occurred at about 5 a.m. local time.
“We suspect he was killed by the sharp rocks inside the 15-meter-deep crater,” the officer said.
Fetersen was scaling the mountain with two of his friends and a guide named Komang Edi, Dwi added.
He said the Bali search and rescue workers were attempting to recover the body of the tourist.
