One killed, three injured in Medan gas blast

EDAN, North Sumatra: One person has been killed and three others critically injured in a gas explosion Wednesday at a factory in the Medan Industrial Zone (KIM) on Jl. Yos Sudarso, Medan Labuhan district.

Contract worker Rianto, 32, was believed to have died instantly after falling off the factory when a plank gave way beneath him.

He also hit a gas pipe, and the welder he was carrying at the time sparked an explosion and fire.

Those injured have been identified as Dede Sunarya, Chandra Kirana and Slamet, also contract workers. - JP
