JAKARTA: PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI), a local unit of US energy giant Chevron Corporation, has appointed Abdul Hamid Batubara as its new president director.
Effective on March 5, 2010, Hamid replaced former CPI president director Suwito Anggoro, who had retired from the company, Chevron said in a statement published Thursday. Hamid, 52, graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1982, majoring in electrical engineering.
He obtained his master's degree in business administration at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, US, in 1999. Hamid began his career at Chevron as a computer analysts programmer in 1982.
His latest position was as senior vice president for Chevron's Sumatra operation support division.
Chevron has become the largest oil producer in Indonesia, contributing around 40 percent to the country's crude production. - JP
