Moderate quake shakes North Sulawesi

A 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit Bitung in North Sulawesi at 5:05 p.m. on Monday, the Geophysics, Climatology and Meteorology Agency (BMKG) reports.

The epicenter of the tremor was 191 kilometers southwest of Bitung and 196 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital Manado, at a depth of 20 kilometers beneath the sea floor, the agency said on its website.

The agency did not issue any tsunami warning.

There were no immediate reports of fatalities or damage from the quake.
