A team from the Corruption Eradication Commission was deployed Tuesday to verify and clarify the wealth of director general of taxation Mochamad Tjiptardjo.
KPK director for state officials’ wealth Cahya Hardianto Harefa told Antara news agency the team started working at 8 a.m.
“[They are] likely [to work] until 10 or 11 a.m.,” he said.
After almost a year in office, Tjiptardjo said last week he would submit his wealth report to the KPK this week.
State officials are required to submit their wealth report as soon as they take or leave office, according to the anticorruption law.
The tax office has come under the public spotlight recently as the police are investigating a junior tax official for his role in an alleged graft syndicate that helped him amass dubious funds totaling Rp 25 billion (US$2.75 million).
