Health insurance falls to wrong beneficiaries

MATARAM: A number of civil employers, including those from military and police institutions, are reported to be among beneficiaries of the health insurance program for economically disadvantaged people.

The Mataram Audit Agency revealed a list of 61 recipients, who were not entitled to the program.

"We are seeking clarification from the health office," Lalu Muhammad Faozal, spokeswoman of the provincial administration office, said.

The health office blamed the irregularities on the mishandling of data filing.

The data at the health office shows West Nusa Tenggara has 4.1 million people categorized as living in poverty. Almost half the number are listed as program beneficiaries. - JP
