Bilqis Anindya Passa, a baby girl with a deadly liver condition, finally died at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday after being treated for about two months at Kariadi general hospital in Semarang, Central Java.

Bilqis died because her lung was infected with bacteria, thereby causing to have breathing problem with falling body strength.

She was in the process of  having lung treatment ahead of doctors' plan to have her liver be operated.

But Bilqis was infected with acenobacter bouwman bacteria on her lung and seratia marcesens on her blood.

Tatty Ermin Setiati, one of the hospital's doctors, said that Bilqis' blood was once infected with pneumonia klebsia bacteria.

“The bacteria easily comes and goes. It is also difficult to cure and prevent,” Tatty
said as quoted by kompas.com.

Born in August 2008, Bilqis has had to rely on intensive medical treatment since the first weeks of her life. When she was two weeks old, Bilqis stomach gradually swelled and her skin broke out in a rash.

Bilqis suffers from biliary atresia, a rare liver disease, in which the bile duct between the liver and the small intestine is blocked or absent.

The disease, which affects one in every 10,000-15.000 newborns, can lead to liver failure and death. When she was six weeks old, Bilqis parents took her in for surgery but it was not successful.
