The French government has allocated 5.6 million euros for disaster management program in Indonesia, its envoy says.
Ambassador Philippe Zeller said Monday the fund, which also came from the French Red Cross, would be used to finance disaster management program in Jakarta, Bali, Yogyakarta, Jambi, Aceh and West Sumatra, provinces known for their vulnerability to natural disasters.
Zeller visited Denpasar on Monday to observe the disaster control and mitigation center, which was built using the French assistance.
Bali governor Made Mangku Pastika said the disaster management program was incorporated into the security system in place in the province. “Disasters are not only originated from the nature, but also human as evident in the terror attacks,” he said.
