City Council to probe school graft

A- A A+

JAKARTA: A member of the City Council's Commission E overseeing education and welfare promised to follow up graft allegations at five junior high schools, reported by Indonesia Corruption Watch.

"We will question all independent study centers and former junior high schools from 2007 and 2009 next week," she said Tuesday.

She said the date was not fixed and pending on the completion of the recess period.

In its report, ICW alleges officials at five junior high schools misappropriated the fund from the government's School Operational Aid scheme and the city's Education Operational Aid scheme between 2007 and early 2009. - JP
