Ani Yudhoyono 'deserves to be nominated for president'

A Democratic Party senior politician, Hayono Isman, says President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s wife, Ani Yudhoyono, deserves to be named a presidential candidate for the party in the 2014 election.

“If she wants to move forward, I will support her. She deserves to be nominated for president, because she has many experience by continuously standing by the President at major national and international events,” Hayono said at his office at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Thursday.

In recent weeks, numerous Democratic Party regional branches have also said Ani deserved to compete for the top post, at the party’s upcoming congress in May.

Hayono said Ani’s capacity was too great for just a top leadership post within the party and that her game was at the presidential level.
