Forestry Ministry awards conservation status for TMII

JAKARTA: Indonesia in Miniature Park (TMII) in East Jakarta enjoys new status as a Flora and Fauna Conservation Institution from the Forestry Ministry, an executive with the park said Wednesday.

TMII operation director Ade F. Meyliala said the park has four categories of conserved fauna; birds, reptiles, insects and fresh water animals.

"We also conserve rare plant species. The park is also included part of city forest," Ade added.

The park, opened by late first lady Tien Soeharto, celebrates its 35th anniversary this month. -JP
