Jakarta City Council has scheduled a plenary session on Friday to hear from Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo over Wednesday's deadly clash in North Jakarta, which claimed three lives.

City council speaker Ferrial Sofyan said Friday that the session was scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.

“It is a problem that [the governor] should explain,” he told kompas.com.

City administration spokesman Cucu Ahmad Kurnia said that Fauzi has confirmed his attendance at the session, along with deputy governor Prijanto.

The riot in Koja, North Jakarta, claimed the lives of three public order officers and injured at least 128 people. The clash was triggered by a land dispute between state-owned port operator PT Pelindo II and the self-proclaimed heirs of revered Muslim figure, Arif Billah Hasan bin Muhammad Al Hadad, whose tomb used to be located at the memorial complex on the land.
