Three named suspects in underage marriage

MEDAN: The Medan Police named three suspects who allegedly organized an underage marriage between a 12-year-old girl and her 60-year-old grandfather.
The three suspects are Wagimin, the girl's father, the girl's husband M.Indra Bairi and an official of the marriage board.
The three have been summoned for questioning by the police next Monday.
Rismawati, 28, the girl's sister, said her parents had forced her 12-year-old sister, who is a sixth grader at an elementary school, to marry her 60-year-old grandfather, who already has five wives, to settle a debt.
The wedding ceremony was held on Oct. 10, last year. - JP
