The Jakarta Legislative Council urged the city administration Thursday to delay its plan to relocate all chicken traders to official slaughterhouses in five places in the city until September from its original schedule Saturday.
“We have sent the proposal letter to delay the relocation last month, but the administration requested to form a favorable relocation mechanism instead. Time is ticking and it must make a decision immediately,” the Council's Commission B chief, Selamat Nurdin, said as quoted by kompas.com.
The five places of relocation are Srengseng in South Jakarta, Petukangan in West Jakarta; Rawa Kepiting, Cakung and Pulo Gadung in East Jakarta.
