State power producer (PLN) president director Dahlan Iskan said Thursday the company would be able to generate adequate power supply for Java distribution by 2016.
Dahlan said the company’s power supply would be stable upon completion of the first phase of 10,000-megawatt power generation crash program in 2014.
The company also expects to increase production capacity by 3,200 megawatts from new power plants in Rembang, Indramayu, Suralaya 8 and Paiton this year. PLN will further up production by 6,500 megawatts from power plants which are being built and will be completed between 2011 and 2014.
“Therefore, Java will experience no more power deficit by 2016,” said Dahlan as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
