Batam riot unlikely to perturb investors: Hatta

The government said the disturbance between two groups of workers at shipbuilding company PT Drydocks World Graha in Batam, Riau Islands, was isolated and will not affect investment in the province. and the.
 
"It's a corporate problem. The management has cooperated with the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry and the labor union. This kind of thing makes investment in Indonesia looks risky [to investors]," Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa told reporters Friday.
 
Hatta said Drydocks employs almost 10,000 people, most of whom are contract workers. "Only 200 are permanent employees; 100 are expatriates, most of which are Indian," he said.
 
Hatta said the company's management had taken immediate steps to settle the problem.
