Aceh Police investigate `UN Council'

ACEH: The Aceh governor and police are scrutinizing the nature of an organization in Blower, Banda Aceh, claiming itself to be the United Nations Security Council.

"I have no knowledge on the subject. Let the forces investigate it," Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf said Saturday in Aceh, as quoted by kompas.com.

The organization, using a two-story house as its headquarters, boasts stamps, documents and other items that bear similarity to those used by the security council.

Marzuki Abdullah, who proclaimed himself the deputy of the "council" said the organization's chief, Nurdin Jalil, had received an official mandate to claim his position. "We work for the nations of the world," he said.

Aceh Police has secured a number of documents from the building and will question those involved. - JP
