BADUNG: The wealthiest regency in Bali has allocated Rp 3.1 billion to fund tourism promotion campaigns here and abroad in 2010.

"Promotion campaigns abroad will be held in London and South Korea while domestic campaigns will be run several major cities including Jakarta, Surabaya, Manado and Batam," Badung Tourism Agency head I Made Subawa said.

He said London and South Korea were seen as representing Europe and Asia respectively, two biggest markets for the regency's tourism industry.

"Annually, the number of visitors from South Korea has steadily increased and we must pay special attention to this market," he said, adding that the Badung administration also acknowledged the increasing spending by domestic visitors.

"That's why this year we are organizing special campaigns to specifically target domestic visitors." - JP
