AMBI: South Jambi Police on Monday evening arrested 10 migrants fromAfghanistan and Iraq for failing to possess proper immigrationdocuments when they tried to enter the Sulthan Thaha Airport.

The detainees were reported to have entered Jambi from Pekanbaru, Riau, by way of Muarasabak, East Tanjab regency. They were arrested as they were about to leave for Jakarta, police said.

“After being questioned by Jambi Police, they will be handed over to immigration authorities for further processing,” Jambi Police intelligence unit head Comr. Samsul said.

The arrest was triggered by a report from an airport official who said he harbored suspicions of the migrants, who were about to leave for Jakarta. — JP
