President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono warned 1,000 regional government officials attending a national development planning meeting on Wednesday against taking a nap during the event.
The President asked the officials, including governors and regents, to stay focused and avoided unnecessary chit-chat that would disturb the course of the meeting.
“I remind all of you to pay attention. Do not sleep or make a noise. If you wish to talk you’d better get out. If you are sleepy, wash your face to refresh yourselves,” the President said upon opening the meeting at Bidakara Tower in South Jakarta.
It was unclear if the President was referring to certain officials. Two years ago, Yudhoyono became angry upon spotting a regent fall asleep as he was delivering his directive.
The President said the meeting was crucial as the local government officials would synchronize the development planning programs in their regions and the priority of the national development agenda for 2011.
