Bank Permata Q1 net profits surge 62 percent

JAKARTA: PT Bank Permata Tbk announced Thursday that its net profit surged by 62 percent to Rp 269 billion (US$29.85 million) in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period, last year.
The bank said in a statement that total revenues increased by 27
percent year-on-year (YoY) as a result of growth in both interest
income and non-operating income.
Net interest income grew 35 percent YoY to Rp 782 billion.
Bank Permata also said its lending continued to rise during the first quarter of this year as reflected by a 15 percent growth in total lending to Rp 41 trillion at the end of March compared to the same month last year.
Total assets increased 15 percent to Rp 62 trillion at the end of the
first quarter, further strengthening Bank Permata’s position as one of
the top 10 banks in Indonesia by assets, the bank said.
The level of gross non-performing loans (NPL) dropped to 4.2 percent at
the end of March 2010 compared to 5.4 percent a year before. Net NPL
were 1.2 percent at the end of March 2010, down from 2.6 percent a year
before, the bank said. — JP
