KPK may tarnish Yudhoyono’s legacy: Rizal

A- A A+

Former chief economics minister Rizal Ramli has accused the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of giving privilege to Vice President Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati by allowing them to undergo questioning at their respective offices.

Rizal said the special treatment could tarnish the legacy of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

“If special privileges are continuously given, then state officials will lose more and more sensitivity,” Rizal told reporters at the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) on Friday.

Rizal also regretted Yudhoyono’s persistent defense of his state officials.

“If SBY continues to defend them, then this action could potentially tarnish his legacy. The people will only remember that in his final term, the Bank Century scandal is never fully resolved.”

Rizal expected the KPK to stop the practice.

“People need an example of a humble leader who has a sense of remorse. KPK must stop giving privileges,” he said.
