Police have arrested a suspected terrorist who helped operate a training camp in Jalin Mountain in the Aceh regency of Aceh Besar.

National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Edward Aritonang said on Friday the suspect, identified as Eko Prasetyo, was nabbed in a mosque compound in the East Java town of Lamongan on Monday.

“The suspect managed to flee Aceh and run as far as East Java,” Edward said.

Following the crackdown on a terrorist network in Aceh early in March, the counterterrorism police squad has arrested 63 people, 50 of them are being detained, eight were shot dead and five were released due to lack of evidence.

The police have confiscated 29 arms, over 21,000 live bullets and Rp 100 million in cash from the suspects.

Edward said the police investigation found the training camp was part of a plan to build a center of resistance movement and an Islamic state in Aceh.
